AFRICA - Seasonal Baggage Embargo: Change to Summer Period Dates – Effective from 29 May 2025

Following the implementation of seasonal baggage embargoes on certain African destinations, please be advised that the start of the Summer period has been brought forward with immediate effect.
The page "Checked Baggage Allowance and Extra Baggage" is currently being updated with this and other information, so we are sharing the new embargo periods directly through this alert.
Embargo Periods 2025/2026
Final destination: ACC, DSS, VXE, RAI, OXB* and TMS
- Summer: 29MAY25 to 07SEP25*
- Christmas/New Year: 06DEC25 to 05JAN26*
- Easter: 20MAR26 to 05APR26
*For OXB as final destination: Summer embargo is extended until 26SEP25 Christmas/New Year embargo is brought forward to start on 08NOV25
Origin: ACC
- Summer: 29MAY25 to 07SEP25
- Christmas/New Year: 25DEC25 to 05JAN26
- Easter: 06APR26 to 12APR26
Excess baggage (in weight and/or dimensions) or the purchase of additional baggage will not be accepted. Only the baggage allowance included in the fare will be permitted, provided that the sum of the three dimensions (height, width, length) does not exceed 158 cm, with a maximum weight of 23 kg in Economy Class and 32 kg in Business Class.
This limitation applies to all tickets, regardless of the fare type purchased or the Frequent Flyer status, with the exception of DISCOUNT fares, where it will only be possible to add one baggage item (FBAG – first bag).
Any request for Sports Equipment, SBAG, XBAG, SPEQ, BULK, AVIH, MUSM, or MUSL will not be accepted.
All new bookings with travel on these routes and periods (according to the direction of travel) will receive a “UC” or “NO” status.
Please note that in the case of connecting flights, it is not possible to assign “UC” or “NO” from origin to final destination. Only flights on the African route will receive these statuses.
