Partnerships and Alliances
Updated on 24 Jan 2025

If we cannot fly your Client to their final destination, we have a Partner who can. If we don't fly directly to your Client's destination and the flight is operated by one of our Partners, they can help meet your Client's request.

We are part of the largest airline alliance, Star Alliance. Through our various airline Partnerships, we offer a wide combination of connections to our Clients, allowing them to reach any part of the globe at their convenience.

RAILWAY PARTNERSHIPS

With TAP partnerships, gain more options to allow your customer to get where they want to go and travel to the central stations of various cities in Europe - in addition to those served by an airport. Combine the journey by plane and train in a single ticket and your customer will avoid long stopovers and get to their final destination more quickly.

How to travel with a combined ticket:

  • Book the train ticket when you book the flight with TAP.
  • Check-in for the train journey is compulsory and available 72 hours before departure.
  • Once check-in is complete, passengers will receive a boarding pass which they must present to board the train.
  • Passengers have the right to carry the same luggage as they do on the plane.
  • It is the passenger's responsibility to pick up and carry luggage when transferring - from the plane to the train and vice versa.
  • To avoid missing your flight connection, we recommend arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before the flight departure.

Available Partnerships:

  • TAP Air Portugal / Deutsche Bahn  (Germany)
  • "Rail&Fly" Program  (Germany)
  • TAP Air Portugal / Access Rail (Europe)

STAR ALLIANCE

TAP Air Portugal has been a member of Star Alliance since 2005, the first and largest airline alliance in the world. Passengers can earn and use TAP Miles&Go miles all over the world with Star Alliance companies and receive exclusive benefits in different parts of the world.

Book with a network airline and earn miles for your Client

Every time the passenger flies with a Star Alliance airline, they earn miles in their TAP Miles&Go account. The number of miles earned depends on the airline, the distance and the ticket category. Choose a Star Alliance member and find out how many miles they can earn.

To earn miles, simply book the flight with any Star Alliance member. If the passenger books online and indicates the TAP Miles&Go number, the miles will be credited automatically. You can also make the booking in your GDS for the passenger and enter the Miles&Go Client Number.

Make sure that the name on the ticket matches the name registered on the passenger's TAP Miles&Go Account and that the flight is eligible for earning miles.

If the passenger has forgotten to indicate their TAP Miles&Go Client Number, they can log in to their TAP Miles&Go Account and claim the miles.

If the name on the ticket does not match the name registered in the TAP Miles&Go account, please contact TAP Miles&Go Support and present an identification document to claim the Miles from the Partner.

BAGGAGE ON FLIGHTS WITH OTHER COMPANIES

If the trip involves a TAP Air Portugal codeshare flight or a flight operated by another airline, the baggage allowance will be determined by the Most Significant Carrier (MSC) rule of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) except with EK,TG and V7 which apply the carrier's baggage allowance.

CHARGE & KEEP

Whenever ancillary services need to be charged for and the itinerary includes TAP and OAL (other airline) flights, but TAP Air Portugal is the first operator, the Charge & Keep Concept will apply. This concept stipulates that the first operator will charge for the service up to the ‘turnaround point’ and issue the EMD.

Whenever there is a stopover (a stop on the itinerary of more than 24 hours), the passenger must pay a separate flat rate for the flights before and after the stopover, so the Charge & Keep Concept is only applied up to or from the Stopover.

Charge and Keep concept applies only to some ancillary services such as:

  • Extra Baggage
  • Special baggage (MUSL/MUSM & MUSS are not accepted by AD).
  • PETC and AVIH accepted by SP/S4 only.

For more detailed information, please contact your usual Agency's Support.
