Extra Seat for Comfort or Cabin Baggage

On TAP flights, passengers may book and pay an extra seat:

  • for additional comfort;
  • for fragile items that cannot be transported as standard cabin baggage but that passengers do not wish to send as hold baggage;
  • for passengers with fractures on the lower limbs.

 

Extra seat for additional comfort - EXST -

The service translates into an unoccupied seat next to the passenger, in economy class only.

Not applicable on emergency exit rows.

When booked for passegers with fractures on the lower limbs, check here for information regarding the reservation of the correct extra seat  for the immobilized limb (left or right).

Booking Procedures:

The extra seat for comfort (SSR EXST) must be booked under the passenger's last name. EX: 2SILVA / MANUELMR / EXST.

Do not add gender (MR, MRS ...) to the name EXST.

An SSR EXST must be entered when the reservation is created, with the reason for booking and must be associated to the passenger's name.

EXST issuance:

The EXST will be charged the same fare (and YQ) as the passenger it is associated with.  All fare conditions apply.

Insert in the TST of the passenger the Ticket Designator "EX" referring to the service charged; the charge is made on this ticket as Queue Surcharge added in the Fare Calculation. 

Add in the Fare the value of the EXST (same fare of the passenger + value of the YQ ) to be charged for the service; the new ticket total will be the sum of the passenger's ticket value plus these two values.

 

Extra seat for cabin baggage - fragile, bulky or valuable articles - CBBG -

  • Fragile articles:  e.g. works of art, musical instruments;
  • Bulky items: e.g. large musical instruments;
  • Valuable items: works of art or diplomatic bags.
  • Items not considered as hand luggage.


Acceptance under the following conditions:

The pressure / weight of cabin baggage on the seat shall not exceed 75kg / 165lbs.

Maximum dimensions:

155x42x25cm / 61x16x9in from the  floor or
110x42x50cm / 43x16x19in from the seat

For heavier weights or larger volumes it may be necessary to book more than one seat. This  will be defined by the Operational Control.

Booking procedure:

The CBBG must be booked under the passenger's last name. Ex: 2SILVA / MANUELMR / CBBG

Do not add gender (MR, MRS ...) to the name CBBG.

An SSR CBBG must be added with  the dimensions per piece and must be associated to the passenger's name.

The CBBG will be charged the same fare (and YQ) as the passenger it is associated with. If the same fare is not available, the lowest fare according current availability and on the same brand of the passenger ticket applies. Private/ IT fares do not apply for this service. All fare conditions apply.

Issuance of the CBBG ticket:

A separate ticket will be issued for this service.

  • Charge the same fare and YQ as applied to passenger if purchased at the same time.
  • If the service is added/purchased after passenger ticket’s issuance, the lowest fare according to current availability must be used (considering the brand on the passenger’s ticket – bare in mind that same or higher fare must be applied).
  • The charge is applicable for each seat occupied.
  • The value charged is the fare plus YQ applicable to the routing where the passenger uses the extra seat (considering the brand on the passenger’s ticket).
  • AD/IT discounted fares are excluded. In such cases, the lowest fare according to current availability of the routing where the passenger uses the extra seat will ve collected.
  • Penalty for changes also applies to the extra seat. 
  • If a passenger travelling on a round trip only uses the extra seat on one segment, then the lowest fare according to current availability + YQ (considering the brand on the passenger’s ticket) to such one way segment applies.
  • Insert the Ticket Designator "CB" regarding the service charged.
  • Remove the baggage allowance from TST.
  • Airport taxes shall not be charged.
  • Add the passenger's ticket number in the Endorsement Box.

For safety reasons assignment of Emergency Exit Rows seats for special baggage is not permitted.
