ESAN – Emotional Support Animal's bookings will no longer be accepted on TAP operating flights from January 15, 2021
Booking for the transport of emotional support dogs as ESAN will no longer be possible with TAP as of January 15, 2021. Service is guaranteed on previously confirmed bookings.
These animals may continue to be accepted as PETC or AVIH (as applicable) on flights operated by TAP.
TAP will continue to accept assistance dogs as SVAN (Service Animal) with certified training as per its definition:
"Service Animal is a dog, regardless of breed or type, that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of a qualified individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual or other mental disability".
When booking a service dog - SSR SVAN - the passenger must be advised that the training certificate must be presented at the airport, otherwise, acceptance will be denied.
A warning SSR about this requirement will be added to the PNR when an SSR SVAN is confirmed. e.g:
SSR OTHS 1A SVAN CONFIRMED PROVIDED DOG S CERTIFICATION IS PRESENTED AT AIRPORT OTHERWISE ACCEPTANCE WILL BE REFUSED
