TAP offers the passengers the opportunity to upgrade to Comfort seat in economy or to upgrade to Business Class, up to 36 or 24 hours before the flight.

Business Class: we offer the customer the chance to enjoy the last Business Class seats and participate in an auction that can turn travel into a unique experience, with superior comfort and entertainment.

Comfort seat: we offer the customer the opportunity to live the best experience in economy class, traveling in a Comfort seat, with more space, reclinable and with headboard adjustment, with tablet support, among other benefits.

HOW IT WORKS

Passengers can participate in a TAP Upgrade auction for Comfort seat in economy class or they can auction to travel in  Business Class by following the step-by-step instructions in our TAP App :

1. Access the app and choose the flight/auction

When opening the TAP App, passengers can check whether their flight is eligible1 for the Comfort seat  or Business Class Upgrade auction, and choose which auction they wish to participate in.

The Business Class or Comfort seat in economy class auctions take place simultaneously, so passengers can enter one or the other or bid in both auctions (they will have to enter an auction first, moving forward until the position table appears and then go to the menu and choose the other one, repeating the process again).

As of 6 July 2022, upgrades without executive class meal will also be available for long-haul flights only, namely to/from Brazil, the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Angola and Mozambique.

After entering the payment details and before confirming the first bid, the passenger will be informed by reading the Auction Conditions that an executive class meal may not be available on their long-haul flight, in which case an economy class meal will be provided (this condition does not apply to passengers with a special meal, so they will remain unable to enter the auction).

2. Place the bid

The passenger must confirm the minimum starting bid amount, and bid using the credit card. The passenger must keep checking their position in the auction and use the "paddles" to continue bidding.

3. Stay tuned

If the passenger wins, he/she will receive a message shortly after the auction closes. The Business Class auction ends 62 minutes before the flight and the Comfort seat in economy class auction ends 58 minutes before the flight. The message that the passenger receives will contain the new boarding pass with a Business Class or Comfort economy class seat assignment. The debit2 of the amount bid will be made automatically from the credit card provided.

 

Notes:
 
Please note that not all routes are eligible for Upgrades auction. If the passenger's flight is not eligible, he or she will not receive the email inviting him or her to participate.
2 If the passenger does not win the auction, he or she will not be charged any additional cost and will keep his or her original boarding pass.
 
 

 

UP TO 36 HOURS BEFORE THE FLIGHT

HOW IT WORKS

To be able to participate in a TAP Upgrade auction for Business Class travel, passengers simply follow the step-by-step in our TAP App:
 

1. Book the trip

The passenger must buy the ticket in the way he/she prefers.

2. Bid the value desired

The passenger must indicate the amount he/she would like to pay to travel in Business Class. The passenger must make the bid, using a credit card or TAP Miles&Go miles, up to 36 hours before the flight

If the amount is accepted, payment will be made automatically with the credit card indicated at the time of the bid, or to the TAP Miles&Go account. The passenger will then receive an email confirming the transaction. If the amount bid is not accepted, nothing will be charged and the passenger will keep their original ticket.

When bidding, the passenger must take into account the following conditions:
 
1) If the reservation has more than one passenger, the debit of miles or credit card payment, will be processed on the account to whom the email is directed. If the upgrade process is initiated manually, it will be the customer who is identified at that moment to whom the debit of miles will be made; 
2) Miles used as a payment method are non-refundable, as well as the amount paid by credit card;
3) To complete the bid with TAP Miles&Go miles the passenger must make sure that his/her account has sufficient miles for the purpose, otherwise the bid will be denied. 
4) This auction is not applicable in group bookings, travel with babies and in some special services.

 
Note: If the passenger has a reservation code corresponding to the airline tickets of more than one passenger, and wants to make an individual bid, he/she must contact you (travel agency) to have his/her reservation separated. If the passenger has made the reservation directly with TAP, it will be necessary to contact us.

  • Valid only for TAP flights and with executive cabin.
  • Upgrades subject to seat availability.
  • The value to be bid is applicable for each flight segment and each passenger
  • Not all services associated with the Upgrade are available and some tickets are not eligible for this type of Upgrade.
  • Payment should be made by credit card only, made in EUR at airports located in Europe, Morocco and Tunisia. For the rest of the world it will be in USD.
  • The passenger can bid only for himself or for several passengers in a single reservation (up to a maximum of 6);
  • For CHD bookings, it is mandatory that all passengers enter the auction;
  • The auction is not available for group bookings or with some restrictive SSR's (ex: MEDA, PETC, UMNR, Special meals, INFT, etc...);
